A gentle birth plan and reflection resource
Birth is not just a physical event – it’s an emotional experience that can stay with you long after the day itself. This paired birth plan and reflection resource was created to support both preparation and emotional wellbeing, before and after birth.
My Birth Preferences is a one-page birth plan designed to support clear communication, consent, and emotional safety. Rather than focusing solely on checklists or ideal outcomes, it gently centres how you would like to feel, be supported, and communicated with during labour, birth, and the early hours after meeting your baby. It can be shared with care providers and support people to help reduce decision fatigue and support calm, respectful care while still allowing flexibility as birth unfolds.
My Birth Reflections is a separate, private page intended for use at home, whenever you feel ready. It offers space to reflect on your birth experience in a gentle, non-judgemental way – whether your birth felt empowering, complicated, unexpected, or all of the above. There is no pressure to “make sense” of what happened, no right timeline, and no expectation to feel a certain way. This page exists simply to support processing, integration, and self-compassion.
Together, these two pages form a thoughtful alternative to a traditional birth plan – one that recognises the importance of mental health, emotional safety, and the reality that birth doesn’t always go to plan.
